6 - Weather. . . A Few Facts

Southern Sudan is hot. Phalice warned me of this, but today I checked the weather. She is right . . . daytime temperatures are in the high nineties to over one hundred. Thankfully it looks like it cools off at night to the mid-seventies to low eighties. Nairobi appears to be a little cooler and showery over the next five days.

Sudan Facts:
  • Africa's largest country, 2,505,813 square kilometers
  • Population is 39.4 million (UN, 2008)
  • 5 million refugees are returning to southern Sudan
  • Sudan Interior Church has a membership of 100,000
  • Major religions: Islam, Christianity
  • Life expectancy: 57 years (men), 60 years (women) (UN)
  • GNI per capita is $960 (World Bank, 2007)

  1. So some of you may be wondering how the "little lady" is feeling about all this.

Well, I have to say, I am really excited for Tim. (At least one of us is "really excited"!)
This will be quite an adventure.
And it is one that will change him in some ways.

One of the things I have learned in 30 years of marriage is that love can continue to be fresh when individual growth is welcomed and encouraged.

I am happy for Tim that he will have this experience. Of course, my preference would be to go with him!

However, the next best thing is to follow along on his blog.
